NO. 1 DUNBAR GETS NO FAVORS IN DISTRICT DRAW
Paul Dunbar is rated the No. 1 baseball team in the state, but that didn’t help the Bulldogs when it came to determining pairings for the 43rd District Tournament.
In a blind draw, Dunbar drew the fifth slot among the city’s five public school teams. That means the Bulldogs will have to win two games to get to the district finals and be assured a spot in the 11th Region Tournament.
Pairings for the 42nd District, which includes Lexington Catholic, Lexington Christian and Sayre, have yet to be made.
The schedule for the 43rd District, which will be played at Tates Creek:
May 26 — Dunbar vs. Bryan Station, 1 p.m.; Henry Clay vs. Lafayette, 4 p.m.
May 27 — Tates Creek vs. Dunbar-Station winner, 5:35 p.m.
May 28 — Finals, 5:35 p.m.
