“Coach Goins is a 1989 graduate of Lafayette High School. He helped guide the Generals to back-to-back State Championships in 1988 and 1989. He was a member of the 1988 All-State Tournament team, and a member of the 1989 East/West Kentucky High School All-Star Game.
During his scholastic career, Coach Goins was also a member of the Lexington Dixie Baseball Club where he helped Dixie to the NABF World Series each summer and the 1987 Junior Division title.
After a successful high school career, Goins took his talents to Indiana University. A four-year letterman for the Hoosiers, Coach Goins was twice named All-Big Ten first baseman, 1990 All-Regional team, 1990 Indiana Rookie of the Year, and the team captain in 1993.”
